I don't know every Thread here, but I think this idea has never been translated to reality. It would be a great thing though. If we had such a database, this thread could go to quarantine (Considering all this superficial knowledge, discouraging words, superior attitude and the quarrels (I know, I did my part there aswell))

This database coulb be built like e.g.:
Type of conversion/modification => Steps and tools necessary => Quality and size demands for tools like lathe, mille => Difficulty ...

Another great thing would be a F.A.Q part and a section where specific machines are introduced and there capabilites, pros and cons, price and their suitability for a hobby camera/lense mechanic are pointed out.
