interessantes vergleichung (easier to write English): very detailed and thorough comparison. BUT I would like close-up lenses not to be called filters since they do not restrict any part of the visual spectrum (possibly apart from borderline ultra violet usually not visible) and as opposed to filters, close-ups are only intended to shift the focal point.

Also, those who may be tempted to use such add-ons indiscriminately may not be aware of their different strengths and constructions (varying from a simple one-element meniscus to achromatic doublets , which certainly will make any detail comparison less meaningful.

Thank you Paul. I agree, they're not really filters, but if you google them, that's how to find them, so I'd like to keep it that way. I haven't tried to figure out the physics behind these "front end filters" or "PCX-Filters" as they're called on the websites that describe what they're used for and how to build them. As far as I understand, they redirect the light rays on the outer parts of the lens so they don't fall onto the sensor in the very low angle they usually do, resulting in less corner smearing and less color shift (there still is a lot of cyan shift in the corners with the G28).

It's a well known fact that wide angle rangefinder lenses work quite poorly on stock Sony cameras, so using a filter (lightbender?) is necessary for the lens to be competitive on my camera.
