BUT I would like close-up lenses not to be called filters since they do not restrict any part of the visual spectrum (possibly apart from borderline ultra violet usually not visible) and as opposed to filters, close-ups are only intended to shift the focal point.
Also, those who may be tempted to use such add-ons indiscriminately may not be aware of their different strengths and constructions (varying from a simple one-element meniscus to achromatic doublets , which certainly will make any detail comparison less meaningful.
