This slime mold is the first (still no mushrooms) after months of drought.

The fuzzy surface is due to fine surface, spore-bearing structures. The ghostly, larger, transparent blobs are undifferentiated plasmodium.

Update: Update: As is often the case with this species, the following day I found the colony shriveled and it will not recover.
