künstliche inkompetenz
I asked Perplexity.Ai some questions about optical matters I know the answer to and it managed to give two directly contradictory answers, So it has not been taught the "tertium non datur"principle of common logic. Its descriptions are verbose and polite, so i see a promising future in advertizing and making excuses for delayed or cancelled trains and planes.
The same incompetent machine also claimed that Zeiss Oberkochen never made a Gregory type (catadioptric like optic), nor one with an eliptical mirror. While there actually exists a compact 30x60 BGA monocular (which I have on a shelf) with one eliptical mirror placed beyond the focal point of the main mirror in order to give an upright and corrected view.
My conclusion is that one should not trust such Artiifcial Imbecility machines.
I also tried a picture making device and asked it to "draw the original Citroën 2CV" (the one with corrugated iron bodywork and one front light) in order to test whether it knew how it looked, The result was a flowery fantasy with no resemblance beyond the contours of a much later model. Presumably the machines are trained on much more recenttly digitized material, and have no restraints beyond the usual American fear of unclothed bodies. It would not for instance show anything by Modigliani.
