Leica Tele-Elmarit-M 2.8/90mm (Leitz Canada, 1974–1990)

Years ago I hjad one of the narrow tele elmarits but was dissatsfied with its less than extreme contrast and traded it for something else. Much later i got an f4 elmar C which performs well enough , slower constructions may well be easier to make well behaved. The tele elmar sunshade kept dropping off while an old Linhof sunshade i found in a drawer stays put on the C.

That was my impression, too, and that's why I bought the Kipon Iberit (https://www.digicamclub.de/showthread.php?t=26958) instead, which performs much better in this respect for two thirds of the cost.

vielen Dank für die Vorstellung des 90mm Elmarit-M. Ich selber habe (noch) den Nachfolger, mit integrierter Gegenlichtblende.
Der Unterschied hinsichtlich Kontrast, Schärfe und Farbsättigung ist meiner Ansicht nach schon deutlich erkennbar. Allerdings
leidet es unter kräftigem purple fringing an harten Kontrastkanten, was durchaus störend sein kann. Daher würde ich sagen,
dass der hier vorgestellte Vorgänger in Anbetracht der aktuell aufgerufenen Preise, sein Geld mehr als wert ist.

The simple CL design f4 , also has detectable colour fringes at some edges when enlarging quite a lot, but not something disturbing at normal A-4 size. Especially easy to ignore in view of its compact size and cheapness (it can be lost or damaged without causing great regret).

I have lent my comparably sized, slightly faster 90mm Apolanthar away, so no comparison can be made yet. According to Erwin Puts that one is on a par with the better leitz creations. For actual use both are peferable to the Apomacro 100mm which cannot easily fit in pockets.
