Um die Canon M3 ist es recht ruhig geworden.

Hatte jemand schon die M3 in der Hand?

Welche Kameras Canon da noch aus dem Ärmel schüttelt, weiß ich natürlich nicht, aber große Pläne haben sie offenbar:

Mich hatte die M3 schon interessiert, da ich an der M(1) ein paar Funktionen vermisse. Nach Markteinführung habe ich aber auch keine aussagekräftigen Tests gefunden. Bis jetzt kenne ich nur einen der einen kennt, der eine hat und damit zufrieden ist. Das ist dann aber doch recht subjektiv.
Ich weiß nicht, wie aussagekräftig DxOMark ist, aber da sieht man zumindest, dass das Rauschverhalten gegenüber der ersten M verbessert wurde. Trotzdem scheinen mir die Sensoren noch nicht auf dem Stand zu sein, den z.B. Sony mit der vergleichbaren A6000 bietet.

I have used the Canon M1 for a while. Larger sensor than the "point&shoot" varieties and in contrast to the full-formats, can be carried in a large pocket.

Lost it down a 10metre stone staircase, still worked, used it in the rain, still alive. The rear display is like all other rear displays, useless in strong sun. A built in electronic viewfinder like the Fujis would have been nice, but I still use the M1 when travelling. My full frame gear is just too large. With the adapters, I use the M1 with my excellent Zeiss Jena 80mm my Schneider 50\0.95and my Leitz -M products.

Later "bells and whistles" on the M3 like tiltable (still useles) screen and (battery-eating & totally useless) WIFi of the M3 is no improvement and the bolt-on viewfinder makes it too big.

The Canon M has a terrible touch sceen that will move your focus point the moment your nose comes up against it (if you dare to use the really excellent Voigtländer "Kontur sucher" or any optical viewfinder) . Apart from that, it is the best pocketable camera I have had since I gave up on film (Back then, the Werra 1 was the most attracive design, the Rollei 35S and the (unreliable) Minox EL the good users, while the M6 was a bit too big to be truly portable ( but of course superior).

If Canon, Fuji, or others come up with a pocketable, ca 20mp, low-noise sensor and compact body with a built in viewfinder, a wheel to set shutter time, a touch screen than can be disabled (or none), and short enough mount flange to take Leitz optics, I will buy.
