Laowa 9mm

I don't see any other topics about this lens. I haven't much to contribute as it is too specialized. I did take some hand held shots inside our local pub in 2020. At least this was on full frame (A7r3), unlike my 12mm (posted elsewhere). I have included a crop of the second image to show the detail present. They were probably at f11 and were by window light.


Here, also is a test shot where you might decide the choice of lens is exciting or maybe just unsuitable. A local windmill at f11 on A7r3.

Ich hab mich vor einigen Jahren hinreißen lassen, mir das Objektiv zuzulegen. Die Brennweite ist schon sehr speziell und alles andere als universal einsetzbar. Aber es können damit eben auch sehr spezielle Fotos gelingen.

I was tempted to buy this lens a few years ago. The focal length is very special and anything but universally applicable. But you can still take very special photos with it.

You have done a great job with vertical lines!

The angle is 135 degrees. This is the lens: Laowa 9mm f/5.6 FF RL. (There is another 9mm which is not FF).

At some stage I measured its closest working distance at 1" or 25mm from the front of the lens with FOV approx 220mm wide.

Most of my images are macro but the lower magnification ones (last few years) are with an Olympus AF lens (used manually ). https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/board/45/
