Almost nothing ad the Pigriff lenshead on the net (exept for the excellent Exakta site, photobutmore.de)

In particular no details anywhere about how dr.Staeble (or possibly Agfa experts after that company was taken over) designed the lenshead optics.

One can safely assume that the 400 and 600 heads are Fraunhofer anastigmat doublets like the Leitz Telyts that also were designed to fit that system. And the slightly more recent "400T" version is specified as a triplet with flatter field to cover medium format.

Nothing ad the 280. Hence I should perhaps share my experience. While cleaning the innards of the 280mm; I discovered that it definitely is a triplet. But using it after the easy reassembly, its performance turned out to be far inferior to the Zeiss 100-300 that I compared it with. The single coating gives too much stray light (but I have not looked at how the internal blackening has stood up over the years. Tomorrow I will try again

jetzt habe ich was gefunden:Novoflex Noflexar modular PIGRIFF system 240mm, 280mm, 300mm, 400mm, 600mm, 64cm Lens Reviews - Miscellaneous Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database. Meine zwei triplets 280&300 sind gegenlightswach, aber justage von "Levels" erledigt schleierbildung. Schärfe und kontrast mit Zeiss 100-300 ist enideutig besser. Nur freihandaufnahmen (mit sensorstabilisierung), so keine verlassliche vergleichsbilder.

Wenn ich auf mein eigene post antwortet mag ich vielleicht English schreiben: I am very pleased that Novoflex still delivers newly produced camera-adapters for the BAL- U that they first produced well over 50 years ago.

Memmingen delivered a solid one-piece NIKZA immediately after I inquired about parts for the bellows of my ancient Pigriff B.

Not many companies that support their own past products and Novoflex also answers emails fast.

Even Leitz who once supplied my IIIc with a selbsausløser in the Hausertorwerk have abandoned their library of parts in favour of transforming into a fashion house, so I thoroughly recommend Novoflex.

Since noe one else seems to contribute ad the Pigriff, i can add that I just managed to aquire a C version in excellent condition.

After disassmbling and lubricating its tiny threads I discovered that although the lensheads between B and C are interchangeable, the aperture unit which fits both lens heads has as much bigger bayonet on the C than on the B version. Probably since it was intended for the 6x6format. I wonder which dimensions the Leitz head has ?

The "ausløser" knob of the focussing unit seems to be able to close an alectrical contact and not just to move a cable release. Lots of adjustment room for the shoulder support. Also more robust closefocussing tube than the BAL.U, but lacking fine adjustment.

First snaps with its 400T turned out good, No attempts to use it against the light however; the coatings look just like on my older version. The number is 48227, no production list is to be found on the net so i assume it was made before most companies started multicoating (and steable/Agfa may possibly never have adapted that technology.)

Ich habe das 400er Triplet und das 600er Noflexar mit Pigriff-C.
Allerdings sind die Teile aus den 80iger Jahren des letzten Jahrhunderts

Die damalige Nutzung war mit der Canon A1 und der AV-1.

Mit Adapter FD auf Sony-E kann ich das Teil auch mit Sony Alpha 7r einsetzen.

Doch noch ungewiss ob die älteste oder neueste production von 400T hast kleine unterschiede.

Am ende die siebsiger jahre wäre vileicht andere glastypen besser oder billiger als am ende die sechsiger. Doch, optische neurechnung und villeicht andere radien als folge kostet auch geld.

Ja, die Blendeneinheit zum PIGRIFF-B (den habe ich, mit BAL-U) hat ein kleineres Bajonett als der PIGRIFF-C (die C-Blendeneinheit ist mir nur mit meinem 400er T-Kopf zugelaufen).

Zum PIGRIFF-C gab es Anschlusskabel für verschiedene Kamerasysteme (KABEL-*).
